The Skills

It’s about telling stories rather than showing information.

A work should be timeless and a strong narrative enforces this ideology. Here are a few of my philosophies and video skills when it comes to dealing with different parts of digital creation.

I believe in artful compositions and moving subjects to create compelling visuals. Through interchangeable lens systems and manual settings, diverse cinematic looks are achieved.

With a strong image comes some powerful writing skills. Enough to grab the attention of an audience member and keep them engaged.

A digital piece should have a strong backbone, one which draws an audience member to a piece of work multiple times.

I’m Cathy a Professional Videographer, Editor & Director. Based in Dublin, surrounded by the sarcastic and banterful bits of the nation, I’m a firm believer in telling stories rather than showing information. Content writing, storyboarding, planning and innovative concepts are paramount to producing high end videos and films.

I am admittedly addicted to the craft of digital art. I completed a M.Sc. Multimedia from Dublin City University in 2013 and fostered a love for video, film, photography, sound and graphic design. To date I’ve worked on a myriad of projects: filming and editing individual productions unique to the RTÉ Player and RTÉ Player International, working as a Colourist for e-commerce enterprise The Packshot Company, directing, producing, filming and editing for various Irish video productions whilst upholding position as Director for award winning company, Birds of a Feather.

Innovation, trends, technology and team work are my obsession. I generally plan, produce and create works from scratch while ensuring constant communication with my clients. Communication is key. Organisation is success. Creation is privilege.

Cat is a perfectionist who shows great attention to detail. I was very impressed with her methodical approach to video shooting, and post production in particular. Her final product is constantly of the highest quality. Cat has a real ”Can – Do” attitude and the interpersonal skills necessary to work within a team, on collaborative projects.

On behalf of Make-A-Wish I would just like to say a huge thanks to Cathy for capturing our first ever Rope for Hope Abseil event. She's shown a clear understanding of our needs and the creativity she displayed really added to the impact we were trying to get across. Thank you Cathy so much for magically capturing one of the most important days on the Make-A-Wish fundraising calendar.
